There is no philosophy shaping my paintings - it is just a way of living life. While creating my paintings, I am not led by any thoughts or ideas. I just go where the painting leads me. It is the same in life. Even if you plan your life or even your day, it seldom goes the way you want it to. I prefer to surrender myself to the forces and the flow of life, and see what shape it takes. Like a tree that is allowed to grow to its full potential.
In a way, it's like love. Love is a happening, a process. We cannot force love.
That's why I always think of new experiences in my art practice.
I enjoy the process of making art. The process of making art is in itself a great state of mind.
When I had started out doing landscapes, I never painted what I saw in front of me. Instead of painting a tree, I was always interested in capturing the 'treeness' of the tree. The tree transforms as it emerges on the surface. And each time, the tree that emerges is different, and so is its 'treeness'. This is the beauty of nature.
I enjoy my dialogues with nature. I spend time reflecting; I am never in a hurry to paint.
My current paintings have evolved from my earlier landscapes. At some point, I stopped capturing landscapes, and began to listen to my inner insights and started painting them. That is what you see today.
